The New York Times
noted today information that the talking
heads have been talking about for days: we are still using the infamous
Blaackwater in Iraq and in Afghanistan; even to giving
Blackwater access to our Drones.
If you have been watching Keith Oberman you already know a good bit about Blackwater. If you've missed it, here's some information you should know. It will comfort you, if you think Obama is different from Bushco.
We start with an introduction to NNBD, which describes itself thus:
What is NNDB?
NNDB is an intelligence aggregator that tracks the activities of people we have determined to be noteworthy, both living and dead. Superficially, it seems much like a "Who's Who" where a noted person's curriculum vitae is available (the usual information such as date of birth, a biography, and other essential facts.)
I can't warrant NNDB, but it's information matches the talking heads'. NNDB says this about the head of Blackwater:
Erik Prince
AKA Erik D. Prince
Born: 6-Jun-1969
Birthplace: Holland, MI
Gender: Male
Religion: Born-Again Christian
Race or Ethnicity: White
Sexual orientation: Straight
Occupation: Business, Military
Party Affiliation: Republican
Nationality: United States
Executive summary: Founder of Blackwater Worldwide
Military service: Navy SEAL Team Officer (1993-96, Bosnia, Haiti)
Erik Prince is a multi-millionaire fundamentalist Christian from a powerful Michigan Republican family. His wealth came from his father, Edgar Prince, who headed Prince Automotive, an auto parts and machinery manufacturer
A major Republican campaign contributor, he interned in the White House of President George H.W. Bush and campaigned for Pat Buchanan in 1992, finding time to intern for conservative congressman Dana Rohrabacher as well. Prince founded the security and mercenary firm Blackwater Worldwide in 1997 with Gary Jackson, another former Navy SEAL.
Two affidavits filed recently by former high-placed guys in Blackwater accuse Prince of murder, and of intentionally hiring men who hate Muslims, encouraging those men to kill Muslims. The hatred of Muslims comes, apparently, from his Christian beliefs.
So, those of you who thought Obama might be soft on the bad guys, relax. We are still spending millions on Blackwater, with no end in sight. See

Is this enough to give Ron Paul nightmares?
Blackwater folks are especially proud of this image, using in on posters. When I was bodybuilding I knew guys of whom this guy reminds me. Don't like the idea of their being around guns. But after the Supreme Court spoke, reading the Constitution strictly, as they say, guys like this have the right to go everywhere with their assault weapons. Except in the Supreme Court chambers. The Court was careful to say that the Constitution does not allow guns in the Supreme Court chambers. Odd. I looked but did not see that particular provision in the Constitution. Perhaps these rabid right-wingers are not such strict constructionists after all.
